All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them
Walt Disney
Great dreams need not start from a great vision and age is not a constraint to start something new.
A six year old boy lost his father and had to take care of his three year old brother. He learnt cooking. At ten he worked in a farm house for a salary of $2 per month. At 12 his mother left him and remarried. At fifteen he became a conductor in a streetcar company. At 16 he became a soldier in Cuba. At forty he returned from the army and worked as a foreman and did law degree through correspondence. He then started a service station and served chicken to the travelers who stopped by.
He only had a chicken recipe with eleven herbs. Soon his chicken became very popular and he started a restaurant across the road and served his chicken for about 140 customers. But his restaurant was demolished due to road expansion. He started living on a social security dole of $105 per month.
At 65 he started his franchising business and travelled 250,000 miles a year making his chicken the talk of the town. In 1960 he sold his franchise for a whopping $2 million!
This is the story of Colonel Harland Sanders the founder of Kentucky Fried Chicken, popularly known as KFC!
