"Life is too short to spend your precious time trying to convince a person who wants to live in gloom and doom otherwise. Give lifting that person your best show, but don't hang around long enough for his or her bad attitude to pull you down. Instead, surround yourself with optimistic people."
Zig Ziglar
We have to help people who can be helped. But at the same time you should be sure that the person is willing to be helped. People will have some of the following reasons which may keep them from succeeding:
· Ignorance,
· Confusion,
· Lack of confidence,
· Lack of help or resources,
· Lack of experience and training,
· Lack of enthusiasm and motivation,
· Lack of clarity and strategy,
· Lack of proper guidance,
· Lack of skill.
The list can go on. All these can be handled. But the most important hurdle in the process of personal effectiveness is negative attitude and lack of flexibility. These two factors will affect not only that person but also those who want to help him. We will be wasting all our efforts and time on a person who has determined not to change and he will change you!
We have lot of people who yearn for guidance and help. They will honestly try to implement good ideas and welcome any help. By helping them, we will be satisfied that we were of some help to them. They will also be grateful for the timely help.
Before applying this checklist on others, check if you suffer from this problem of negative attitude and lack of flexibility.
