Do You Have People Who Can Think  For You?

A work ill done must be done twice.

-A Chinese Proverb

As the working environment becomes more and more competitive, the demand on our time is increasing even more. These are days when we have to work hard even to get ordinary things, not to talk of extraordinary things. To survive in the era of perfect competition, we need to produce high and measurable outcomes. This calls for cooperative efforts and endeavour. We need people who will not only work for us but also think for us.

We may be able to get people who can work for us, but it is not so easy to get people who can think for us, since thinking is  more difficult than working. With the work place becoming more and more challenging, we run into more challenges and problems. We need to think about those problems and come out with suitable solutions. It will not be an exaggeration to say that the more we think, the lesser we need to work. It is also true to say that the better  the quality of our thinking, the more will be the quality of our actions and results.

We need to ask the question: do I have people who can think for me. We may have people who can think, but the emphasis here is thinking for us. This means the person should align himself to our way of thinking, understand our expectation, share our values and concern and think for us. If we have such people, then our time is saved and we can invest our time on other priorities. We know that thinking is also working and occupies our time.

In fact, this is the essence of delegation. This is the purpose of an organization structure. When people think for each other, it results in synergy and the sum total of all the thinking processes makes the organization great. Once we are guided by such people, our decisions will be of high quality. If we are surrounded by people whose thinking process does not align with our values and priorities, then we end up undoing what has been done wrongly. If the thinking process of those who work for us is defective, we will take some wrong decisions and land ourselves in crisis.

Type and paste this question on your table top: DO I HAVE PEOPLE WHO CAN THINK FOR ME?
