Life is not a ritual. It is a meaningful existence. In a ritual we are not involved and committed. When we work towards a goal, there are times when we come across setbacks. Some may very minor setbacks and some others  major ones. We need to accept setbacks as realities in life and fight back. In order to do that, our mental frame work is very important. Our mind should assign a reason for fighting back. Our willpower is a function of how our mind interprets our various actions.

 

There are three questions we can ask while working towards a difficult and challenging goal. They are: what happened, what if and what next? These are power questions which will put us back into the driver's seat.

 

The question `what happened?' will give us a status report. If things are happening as expected and desired, then we can proceed as planned. If we come across a temporary setback, the second question `what if?' will give us the confidence required to consider the setback as a challenge. This will also give us the willpower to continue taking our efforts to overcome the problem. The third question `what next?' will give us the next course of action to regain the lost ground. This will make us to examine where we are and where we want to be.

 

We need to understand that the most critical difference between those who  fight failures and those who succumb to the same is their mind set. What is required is a courageous and positive mental attitude. We also need to understand that if success is offered to us in a platter, we will not enjoy it. We need to sweat it out and when we succeed ultimately, we will feel excited.

 

We need to be very clear as to why we should take all the pain and efforts in working towards a difficult goal. With this clarity we will be very confident in deciding our strategy.
