"Nurture your mind with great thoughts,
for you will never go any higher than you think."
Benjamin Disraeli
We have two systems guiding us in our life. One is our brain and the other is our mind. The chemistry and the biology of the brain are uniform for all of us and we are identical with reference to the way the brain functions. But we are different with reference to our mind and it is the contents of the mind which makes us unique and different. The content of the brain is the same for all of us.
Our brain is a chemical factory and our mind is a thought factory! The brain secretes innumerable number of chemicals and hormones which decides our energy level. But what the brain secretes is controlled by the mind. The brain cannot function on its own without being triggered by a thought process. If our mind recognizes a threat, a specific chemical and hormones are secreted. If the mind recognizes some pleasure, a different set of chemical and hormones are secreted.
This is where the quality of our thoughts is relevant. It is something like the quality of raw materials resulting in a finished product. The finished product will not be any different from the raw material. If our mind is occupied by empowering thoughts, we will be having the required enthusiasm which will give us the requisite energy and stamina. On the other hand if our mind is occupied by unwanted disempowering thoughts, we will feel stuck.
Mind management is like any other resource management. We should manage any resource effectively and efficiently. Our mind should be occupied by productive thoughts.
One way is to start the day with a good quotation. There are websites which can offer such quotations. Like learning a new word a day, you can have a white board and write one good quotation every day.
