[Time-Management] 100 Thoughts for Self Improvement

12th December 2012

You prove your worth with your actions, not with your mouth.

Jean Paul

I come across people who say that they feel guilty, they feel sorry, they feel discouraged etc. Feelings are very important and they give you a reason to act in a particular way. If feelings are not followed by appropriate actions, the feelings will only drain your energy.

The other day I met a person who said that he felt guilty that he is not able to visit his ailing parents. When he said that, he sounded vey genuine, but, when I asked him what did he do after feeling guilty, he did not have anything to say. The same day I met a student who is going to take his school final exam and he said that he feels nervous thinking about the exam. I asked him what he did after feeling nervous and he did not have anything to say!

Here’s something to ponder:

If you feel guilty that you are not doing something, do it and get rid of the guilt feeling.

If you feel nervous thinking about some upcoming event, take some preparatory action to overcome the nervous feeling.

Feelings are important, but we have to be action oriented to deal with feelings as we cannot do away with feelings.
