âWe cannot teach people anything; we can only help them discover it within themselves.â
Galileo Galilei
In my time management programme, one question which is frequently asked is: I start jogging for some days, but give up; I start reading books, but I give up; I start making a to do list, but give up after a few days. How do I ensure consistency of action? Will this training programme help me to change permanently?
The answer is simple: no training programme can bring any permanent change in any person. If at all it can bring awareness about what to change.
Any change is a self initiated and self directed initiative. If you want to jog, you have to feel hungry about health; if you want to read, you have to feel hungry about knowledge; if you want to love people, you have to feel hungry about relationship. If you donât have this emotional hunger, you will not sustain any initiative.
If a change is not self directed, it is manipulation and cannot sustain.
It is like feeling hungry and enjoying eating and food. Unless you feel thirsty you will not drink water. Just like there is no one time meal, there can be no one time advice. You need to be constantly advised to improve and develop. This advice is internal.
With this realization start anything new and you will notice the change in you!
