Life is thickly sown with thorns, and I know no other remedy than to pass quickly through them. The longer we dwell on our miseries, the greater is their power to harm us.
Voltaire
Time is a healer and it will take its time to heal. We cannot push or pull time. We have to accept it as a reality whether we like it or not. Letâs say someone is sick and is under medication. The medicine will take some time and we have to be patient. He may undergo enormous pain, but he has to accept it.
We may run into a bad patch in our business or profession. We have to rebuild the same taking some drastic actions. It may take some time and we have to accept the same and allow the time to roll by. There is no point in brooding over our current situation showing signs of restlessness and it will not help.
I read somewhere that pain is inevitable, but suffering is optional. When we fracture our leg, we undergo writhing pain. Pain is normally associated with our body, but suffering is a mental or emotional state. We undergo emotional suffering brooding over why it happened to us, why now, when will the pain end etc. Such emotional suffering will not help reducing the pain. In fact the physical pain will be aggravated by the emotional suffering.
We have to grin and bear it allowing time to the healing!
