[Time-Management] 100 Thoughts for Self Improvement

3rd December 2012

‘The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex over whelming tasks into small manageable tasks, and then starting on the first one.’

Mark Twain

I have written nearly 2700 pages of daily mail notes! I cannot believe it! Way back in 1993 I promised a group of executives who attended my time management programme that I will send them daily tips and I started doing it regularly.

Our mind is threatened by huge tasks and the tendency is to avoid the same. In fact this is how procrastination starts. We are tempted to do take easy activities and keep ourselves ‘busy’. But at the end of the year, we would have kept the most important projects pending and we always have the excuse ‘no time’!

Carlson Mc Cullers is a great writer. I read somewhere that before the age of 29 she suffered three strokes and became crippled and partially paralised and endured acute pain. Her husband committed suicide. With all these problems, she wrote just one page a day and turned out many distinguished novels such as Members of the Wedding, The Ballard of the Sad Café etc.

If you are going to wait for one solid hour of uninterrupted time to start your most important project, you will not get. Take the first step now.

What are you doing now? Stop reading and do that one step!
