Image: Bragging!

Do you wish to speak well of you? Then never speak well of yourself!

Blaise Pascal

Do you talk too much about yourself? You may be doing without your being aware of it! Acknowledging what you have done well is not bragging. You have to do it to feel proud of you. When it crosses a limit, it amounts to bragging. It may boost your self- image. But others may not relish it. In fact it may irritate some.

When you brag too much about yourself, the chances are that you don’t recognize and accept that someone else could be better than you. You may even say that you could do anything better than anyone. Such a mindset may blind you about your weaknesses. You may not be willing to accept that you could improve in some areas where you are lacking. You may also feel uncomfortable when someone praises somebody else in your presence.

There is one more consequence of too much bragging. Even if you do a job exceedingly well others may not recognize the same! You may touch the ego and sentiments of others and this will start affecting the quality of relationship over a period of time.

Now do an internal check: do you brag too much?
