Image: The quality of your criticism
Criticism, like rain, should be gentle enough to nourish a manâs growth without destroying his roots.
Frank A. Clark
Criticism is very important. In fact it is an important factor for development. If there is no one to tell you where you go wrong, you may not be aware where you are making a mistake.
But great people are unique the way they dissent and offer their criticism. They are so tactful and clever that people look forward and appreciate their criticism. When you are not tactful, even if you offer genuine criticism, people will not accept the same.
While offering criticism, your intention is very important. Is it to hurt the other person or to help him to correct and change? You should be tactful enough to offer the most unacceptable criticism in a very palatable way. You should use such words which will not wound the emotions and sentiments of the other person. The words should be soothing and emotionally supporting.
There are three types of critics. Royal dissenters are those who not only offer criticism, but also advice you on what you should do to improve. Loyal dissenters are so loyal that they donât dissent at all! The third type of dissenter is cynics who only criticize when you do something wrong and are blind to notice anything good!
