He who moves not forward, goes backward.
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
A baby is good to look at. But however cute a baby is, it cannot remain a baby forever. A plant is small, but unless the plant grows into a tree, it will not be useful. This principle is applicable to our profession also.
We have to grow and make our services useful to more and more people. If there is no growth, there will be no life. If you look around, you will see that everything has a larger scale of operation in the last twenty years. These days you see larger houses, huge malls, huge factories, broad roads etc. You have to take notice of this change and expand the scope of your career.
Whatever may be your career, you have to ask the following questions to yourself:
Am I growing? How many people were using my services last year and how many people are using my services now? How am I going to reach out to even more number of people over the next five years? How am I going to expand the my knowledge, skill, technology and resources to exploit my natural talent and grow?
According to the law of nature, either you have to grow or die? What is your choice?
