`Criticism may not be agreeable, but it is necessary. It fulfills the same function as pain in the human body. It calls attention to an unhealthy state of things'
Winston Churchill
Are you comfortable listening to something very stupid and impracticable? How long can you stand it without losing your cool? How long can you put up with someone who goes on criticizing you, especially when you know that he is not fair?
Don't you agree that we are surrounded by people who may not be exactly what we want them to be? People may make undue demands on you and they may be very unfair. In real life situations you may not have the option to avoid them completely.
In factories, products are subjected to tough endurance tests. The products are tested on non-ideal situations to test if they can endure the stressful test. The more the products withstand these tests, the better will be quality.
When we stand tough physical exercises, we become strong bodily. Similarly, when we undergo and withstand emotional stresses, we will become emotionally strong. We have to be strong both physically and emotionally.
Here's an optional exercise for you. Choose a person who does not like whatever you do and ask him how you are performing. Obviously he will be very critical, he may even abuse you and discredit all that you are doing. Still listen to him calmly! This will give you the emotional resilience!
