Compile a directory of good practices and habits
I think the one lesson I have learnt is that there is no substitute for paying attention.
-Diane Sawyer, Television Journalist
We know how useful directories are. We have directory of vendors, suppliers, builders, textile designers etc. Whenever we want to seek the services of any one of them, we need not waste our time. We refer the directory and contact the appropriate person. It saves a lot of our time.
Think, if you can compile a directory of good practices. Notice people doing something useful and unique. If you observe you can and you will notice. The following are some of the examples I have noticed:
- I know a person who is so meticulous hat he sends a hello card to his friends very regularly. He uses just a post card to inform them that he thought about them.
- There is another person who does the same through SMS.
- One other person buys two pairs of dresses for his birthday, one for himself and one to be donated to one other deserving person.
- There is a guy who has been recording what ever he did in each hour of the day in a note book. He has been doing this meticulously for the past nearly twenty five years!
- There is one writer who observes complete silence once a week and this helps him to catch up with his writing.
- I know of a family where both the husband and wife work. They have a boy and a girl. They go out for lunch every Sunday. They try not to repeat the same restaurant in a period of six months!
If you look around, you will come across more good examples. This practice of noticing helps you to emulate some of the good practices in your life. After all there is so much to learn from others.
If you have noticed some good practice, why don't you share it with me so that I can share it with all of you!
