"Accept the challenges, so that you may feel the exhilaration of victory." –

General George S. Patton

Next time you watch a tennis match or a cricket match, try to put yourself in their shoes and ask yourself the question: why am I doing this? Why am I working so hard in the hot sun? What will I be doing if I am not playing?

If you think for a while you will understand that it is spirit of challenge which keeps them in the game. From the beginning to the end, their faculties are being challenged. Their skill is tested in front of thousands of spectators. Their energy and stamina are being challenged. Amidst so many uncertainties only they continue to play.

There is so much suspense about the outcome of the game. Yet they love their game. Supposing there is a mechanism by which they can predict the exact outcome of the game, do you feel that they will be motivated to play?

This principle of challenge is very important to maintain our effort level. Try to give yourself a stretch goal which will be a little bit more than you can manage. Try to give yourself ten percent lesser time and see what happens. Benchmark your performance a notch above your previous performance. Try to come out of your zone of comfort and see what happens. Try to work one more hour in a day. Try to observe complete silence for one full day and check if you are able to do it. Try not to use your mobile phone for one full day in a week and check if you are able to manage. Try to cut down your cost by 20 percent when you don't have to do.

Try these simple exercises and check how you enjoyed these challenges!
