[Time-Management] Arise, awake and take charge!

17th September 2010

It's never crowded along the extra mile.

Wayne Dyer

Just imagine you having hundreds of competitors and running a race. You will have to consider the strategy of each one of them, fine tune your own and adjust your plan of action. But if you have just a handful of competitors, that too powerful and healthy, you will work smart, conserve all your energy and focus. In fact you will enjoy such a healthy competition!

This example is very relevant in the context of life also. When our standards are very high, we will have very few competitors. If we want our standards very high, we have to work hard and have the best things as our bench mark. We should have legends as our examples. If you want to be a writer, work harder and be a top ranking writer. If you want to be a chess player, let the world be your platform. If you want to be a social activist, let Mahatma Gandhi and Mother Teresa be your role model.

In an organizational context, let your standards be so high that you are propelled into action by your own enthusiasm. Be willing to run that extra mile which the mediocre will not dare to do. Be willing to bring that world class focus and commitment which the ordinary will not be capable of.

You know what will happen if you follow this strategy? Others will hesitate to compete with you and you will have lesser competition!

Ponder over this thought over this weekend!
