The Ignited Child!
Brain gym exercises are very easy to perform and does not strain the body. You may buy a very simple and well presented book `Brain Gym for Business' by the originators of Brain Gym. In the book you will find a 7 minute tune up in which 7 exercises are given which takes only 7 minutes. These exercises are very simple and easy to do. Consistent practice of these exercises will go a long way for integrating the right and the left side of the brain. There are specific exercises which are even more relevant to children to improve some of the critical skills such as mathematic skills, paying attention to details, spelling with accuracy, sticking to schedules, inputting with accuracy, listening actively and attentively, etc.
One of the common problems expressed by parents is that their children do not spell accurately. Brain gym exercises such as Earth Buttons, The Elephant, Thinking Cap, The Owl are recommended to overcome these problems. If you log on to any search engines, you will even come across video clippings on how to do these exercises. There are freely down loadable video clippings. Gail Dennison and Paul Dennison have done years of work in coming out with such simple brain gym exercises for integrating the right and the left side of the brain.
Parents should understand the difference between education and the preparation for education. Education is a process that takes place in a classroom. But the preparation for education takes place outside the classroom. A cricketer practices hours and hours in the net before he plays on the pitch. This principle applies to the process of education. The way a race car is prepared before the race is very important to win or lose the race.
While the school and the teachers can take responsibility for teaching, the parents should take the responsibility for preparing their child to learn.
